Dixie Youth World Series in Longview This Weekend

Twenty-four teams from Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas will compete in Longview this weekend as part of the Dixie Youth AA Region III World Series. Teams will compete in either the Machine Pitch Division or the Coach Pitch Division. The tournament will be held at the Lear Park Softball Complex, 100 H.G. Mosley Pkwy. Games will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, and continue through Monday, July 19.

Tea Town USA Designation Could Help Longview Park

McAlister’s Deli is hosting a competition that could mean money for the City of Longview. The restaurant is holding a nation-wide contest to declare a city, “Tea Town USA”. The winning city will be given $10,000 for park improvements within the community.

Fireworks Festival Set for July 3

The Freedom Celebration and Fireworks Festival will be held in Longview on Saturday, July 3. The fireworks display will begin at dark on the grounds of the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex, 100 Grand Blvd. Access to the Longview Fairgrounds area of the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex is limited to sponsors of the event and active military personnel; however, spectators may view the show for free from the surrounding area.

Mentor Training

New mentors being trained on July 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Upcoming training sessions: August 16 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., and August 27 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Circles Ally Training

Offer a hand up, not a hand out to a family in poverty by becoming an ally. The next training will be August 19 and August 26 from 5:30 - 7:330 p.p.

Tennis Camp

August 2-6 from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. for youth ages 5-12 at LeTourneau University Tennis Courts. The cost is $40. Students will need tennis raquet, sun screen and water. Deadline for registration is July 29.
